Exceeding Expectations

The environment I work in is relaxing and private. I will ask what you like and dislike about your hair and your last haircut. My clients appreciate the effort I make to get their haircut “just right” and my attention to detail. I love listening to music while I so and am almost always exploring the world of classic rock.

Why "Classic" Barbering?

Classic, when applied to barbering, comes from the age-old techniques and tools used by barbers.

It is barbering that has established and recognized value.

After barber school, I was trained in the oldest continually operated barber shop in Lubbock by barbers who shared a combined 314 years of experience.

The training and experience I have gained equips me to do traditional men’s haircuts and adapt them to current styles. My tools include shears, clippers and the hallmark of a barber – the straight razor.

Our story goes back to the 1920s

About The Barber

Joe was named for Joseph Thomas Martin, the grandfather he never knew who owned barber shops in both Corsicana and Skellytown, Texas in the 1920s and 1930s.

Growing up in the Texas Panhandle, Joe’s mother, Bettye Jo, had a keen interest in family history. In 1973, she took Joe, then ten years old, to visit his maternal grandfather’s then-closed barber shop in Skellytown and gravesite in Pampa, Texas. This impactful trip later helped Joe decide to pursue a barbering career.

After working twenty years as a museum curator and director in Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas, Joe began giving his father haircuts and shaves at a nearby nursing home in 2011, which led to his becoming a licensed barber.
